Chanukah, an Adult Perspective: Learn the true story of Chanukah and read texts upon which a modern perspective can be built. Rabbi George Driesen
Blowing the Shofar: Bring your shofar, lots of hot air, and learn how to put the two together. Matt Wald and Jeff ToretskyJewish Liturgy and Yoga: A kinesthetic approach to Prayer. This session will focus on integrating Jewish liturgical themes in our bodies. No experience with yoga required. (This class continues to 12:00). Session 2: 11:20 - 12:00Writing an Ethical Will: Learn the history of ethical wills, explore some examples, and get started on writing your own will. Vicki Breman
Stand Up and Sit Down in Shul: Learn when we stand and when we sit for prayer and why. Rabbi Fred Dobb and Haya Laufer
Reconstructing Kashrut: Learn the basics of the dietary laws and how they can be a meaningful part of the modern Jewish perspective. Haya Laufer
Jewish Liturgy and Yoga: (Continued from Session 1).
12:00-12:25 Lunch: Bring a kosher dairy bag lunch plus one healthy side to share; e.g. grape tomatoes, carrots, veggie chips, side salad, fruit, etc. Coffee, tea, ice water and lemonade will be provided.
Session 3: 12:30 - 1:15Introduction to Reconstructionism: Learn the basics, including the commonalities and differences with other branches of Judaism. Rabbi Fred Dobb
Making Shabbat at Home: Learn the prayers, songs and rituals connected with welcoming Shabbat in our homes on Friday night.
