on our March Event—Gifts for Children with Serious Illnesses
We made 30 decorated picture frames for the children of the Pediatric Bone Marrow and Stem Cell Transplant Unit at Duke University Hospital in honor of Beth Davidson's cousin Julien Mezey. Thank you to Beth Davidson and Madeleine Levin for coordinating, and to the children and parents that donated the supplies and worked together to assemble and decorate the frames. Future Retirement Home Activities Kids Care
Club visits to the Hebrew Home of Greater Washington Sunday Sweets program
and the Springvale Terrace Sunday Coffee Hour are being planned. Please
contact Cathy Gruber (cag9@earthlink.net)
if you and your children would be interested in visiting either of these
communities. Planning Future Events If each Kids Care Club event has two families working together to organize the event, its very easy! If you would like to help in brainstorming and organizing upcoming events, please contact Cathy Gruber (cag9@earthlink.net). |
Our First Adat Shalom "East" Activity May 23!
We will be helping approximately 30 older Russian and Columbian orphans who are visiting the DC area in July. The kids come to the United States to stay with families that are interested in adopting children. A private school in the DC area is making backpacks for the kids coming this summer and we will be assembling items for the backpacks: disposable cameras, photo albums, pens, and notebooks. We will also be decorating a coverpage for the albums and making welcoming cards or pictures to include in the backpack. Kidsave is delighted that we will be helping with this project and we hope to have a child who has participated in this Kidsave program join us. Thank you to Beth Sperber Richie and Lynne Sacks for coordinating this program! Location— A big thank you to Jodi Jacobson for arranging for our activity to take place at the Center for Health and Gender Equity (CHANGE), 6930 Carroll Avenue, Suite 910, Takoma Park, MD.
