About Sleepy Snack Sacks
  • Every night in America there are one million children under 18 living on the streets or in a shelter.
  • Fifty thousand of the children are unaccompanied minors.
  • About half of children in shelters are under the age of five.
The findings of the 2002 Survey on Hunger and Homelessness by the U.S. Conference of Mayors in 25 cities, confirm that hunger and homelessness increased in 2002. Officials expect another increase in 2003.

Kids can reach out to hungry and homeless kids living in shelters by creating a Kids Care Sleepy Snack Sack.
  • Sleepy Snack Sacks comfort children who are hungry by providing a nutritious snack, often before bedtime.
  • Children in shelters do not want to be homeless; they are often ashamed that they are homeless.
  • A Sleepy Snack Sack will tell a homeless child that another child does care about them.

Sleepy Snack Sacks enable children to care about less fortunate children, can be made by children of all ages, and will educate your club about the problems of hunger and homelessness in your community. See Kids Care Clubs Feed the Hungry for in-depth club activities, Issues and Compassion Education and other resources.
