Hoops for Hunger—Help organize a one-day basketball event to raise awareness and money for Mazon: A Jewish Response to Hunger.

1) Kans for Kol Nidre and 2) Passover & Rosh Hashanah Food Projects--  Bring a grocery bag of canned goods to Kol Nidre services; deliver food at holiday times to needy Jewish families, often elderly immigrants.

Shelter

Serve in Community-Based Shelters -- Provide company and meals to homeless men, women and families in D.C. and Montgomery County.  This will likely include service on Christmas eve or day.

Environmental Education/Action -- Get involved with environmental issues and service activities, both within Adat Shalom and in the larger community (first program: climate change).

Interfaith

Community Ministry of Mont-gomery County and Interfaith Housing Coalition -- CMMC, a coalition of congregations from across the religious spectrum, offers the following projects: 1) join an AS team that will mentor a family “emerging from poverty;” 2) provide a week of meals to families in a local shelter.

Muslim-Jewish Friendship Activities -- Join with members of the Montgomery County Muslim Council and others in service activities around the county.

Advocacy

AIM (Action in Montgomery) -- Explore Adat Shalom’s participation in this organization of faith-based entities to promote social justice in Montgomery County.

Genocide in Sudan -- Plan and participate in activism designed to stop the current genocide in Sudan.  Raise money for the victims of the violence.
