The primary goal of the Membership Committee is to recruit new members. To orient prospective members about Reconstructionism and what it means to become active participants in Adat Shalom's spiritual community, we offer a variety of informational and social programs such as "Meet the Community" sessions after Shabbat services. Upon joining, the Membership Committee sponsors more in-depth programs for new members.
We appreciate your interest in Adat shalom and encourage
you to surf our website to acquaint yourself with our synagogue
community. More importantly, come visit and join us on a Shabbat
morning. Services begin at 9:30 a.m. At Adat Shalom you will find a
spiritual home, a warm and embracing community, and a place to enrich
your Jewish life. When you visit us, please join us for our trademark
member-provided oneg lunches.
Since our founding in 1988, we have attracted a diverse and deeply
committed membership. Our members are Jews of all ages, life stations,
sexual orientations, and income levels. We have attracted members from
every branch of Judaism as well as those from other faith traditions. We
welcome new members regardless of their Jewish knowledge or level of
observance and take pride in the fact that we have created a culture
that encourages and supports ongoing Jewish growth.
We work closely with new members to connect them with programs,
groups, and classes that appeal to their interests. There are new member
brunches throughout the year when you will be invited to a member's home
to learn more about our community and how you can get involved.
If you are interested in learning more about Adat Shalom, please
representative will call you as soon as possible. We welcome and
encourage you to attend our Shabbat and holiday services as well as any
program that is mentioned on our website. We can also add you to the
list for weekly e-mails regarding the schedule for upcoming events.
Adat Shalom offers prospective members the opportunity to meet clergy, board members and members of the congregation in general, and get their questions answered at our Meet the Community gatherings in on designated Shabbatot. Please join us at 1 o'clock in the Library after getting some lunch at our oneg, on August 20, September 17, November 19 and December 10.
And, new members will receive invitations to meet one another and socialize at members' homes during our New Member Brunches (family friendly) on November 13, or January 22.
On February 4, 2012, we will host a new and prospective member Havdalah; and on March 23, new members will be invited for Shabbat dinners at members' homes.
Please feel free to call or email Fran Zamore, the Membership Chair with any questions.
