Oneg Instructions

Please read this and then call or e-mail your captain.

The oneg is a highly-valued institution at Adat Shalom. It helps us build and nurture our warm and welcoming community by giving us a chance to gather informally on a weekly basis. To make these events possible, we all rely on our members cooperating fully in their obligation to serve as hosts two or more times a year. Thank you for doing your fair share with a cheerful spirit. We know that everyone who attends this oneg will appreciate your efforts as hosts.

If you are unable to fulfill your oneg obligation on your scheduled date....

-- YOU MUST FIND YOUR OWN SUBSTITUTE --

Then contact your captain, send these instructions to that person, and notify onegs@adatshalom.net so the schedule can be updated.

Contact your Captain within the week after you receive this notice to coordinate your selection of food to bring. The captain's special role is to coordinate the crew's efforts to get this job done in a way that is efficient, eco-friendly, and budget-conscious. He/she will have an idea of the number of people we expect to serve this week and whether there are any special arrangements in case of a Bar/Bat Mitzvah.

INDIVIDUALS NEED TO BRING 40 SERVINGS OF FOOD. In general this will be 3 - 4 VERY LARGE serving bowls or platters. COUPLES NEED TO BRING 80 SERVINGS OF FOOD. In general this will be 6 - 8 VERY LARGE serving bowls or platters.

FOOD SUGGESTIONS WITH DETAILED QUANTITIES ARE LISTED AT THE END OF THIS MESSAGE, as well as at www.adatshalom.net in the Onegs section.

Check in with your Captain when you arrive (wearing your nametag) with your food.
