Dear Adat Shalomer,

What's the best thing to do when the days are cold and gray? Think towards warm and sunny! That's what we're expecting at the Adat Shalom Congregational Retreat on Memorial Day weekend. Attached are three documents: The summary information, the full information packet and the registration forms. The full set will be on the Adat Shalom web site as well. We encourage you to send in your registration and don't hesitate to call if you have any questions.

Over the years, hundreds of Adat Shalom members have participated in memorable congregational retreats at the beautiful 4-H Center in the foothills of the Shenandoah Mountains. The retreat is a chance to expand your Adat Shalom universe — making new friends and spending quality time with family and fellow congregants. The retreat will be led by Rabbi Sid, Cantor Rachel and Educational Director, Mora Chaya. There is something for everyone from young families with children to singles and empty nesters:

Study sessions will explore the Jewish Mussar tradition, a discipline that puts spiritual values into ethical practice by raising consciousness and promoting more sensitive behavior in everyday interpersonal relationships. We will explore how we can infuse our lives with dignity, patience, gratitude, and compassion and why it is sometimes so hard to be a mensch.

Engaging learning sessions for adults with fun, age-related activities for all youngsters (games, crafts, role plays, etc.) will take place during Shabbat. An intergenerational learning session will culminate the parallel-themed programming. Sunday is designed as a field day filled with exciting, outdoor activities for all ages.
