School Board; Helping Out

By now, all of us (students, parents and teachers) should have settled into the School Year. The Fall Holidays are past us and the teachers are deep into the curriculum for each class. The school has grown and we now have over 270 students enrolled from Ganon (pre-K) through K’nafayim (high school). We have a terrific group of congregants who have volunteered their time and effort on the Torah School Board this year. In introducing the board, I’d like to invite all of you to share your thoughts about how things are going, both positive and negative with us, as well as to acknowledge the time and effort that it takes to be a Board member: Debbie Bluestein, Rachel Cohen, Alyssa Dortort, Wayne Firestone, David Gillette, Lee Goldberg, Judi Greenwald, Luther Jett, Jerry Kickenson, Debbie Lindenberg, Joyce Migdal, and Jeff Weintraub. If you’d like to join us please let me know.

I’d also like to acknowledge and give as resounding a Todah Rabah as I can in words to our congregants who are teaching this year in the school. Their talent and dedication to our children are amazing. This year they include: Jared Albert, Elissa Aks-Srabstein, Donna Berry, Rene Boni, Sam Book, Gordon Cohen, Peggy Davidson, Jerry Ehrenstein, Julia Fine, Bob Fuhrman, Debra Fried-Levin, Sue Marx, David Silberman, Lori Sumberg, and our Rabbis, Fred & George.

There are many other ways to get involved in the Torah School and we need the support of all parents to keep our programs going strong. Parents have already been asked what they can contribute with the registration forms for our Ozrim program. This program was started last year to increase our Ozrim (helpers) in the school. As the year progresses, you may be called to carry out a task. Some of these are already in progress, e.g. room parents, others are yet to come. Please remember that your participation is important to your children and we’re depending on you!

Thanks in advance to everyone for their support of theTorah School!

B’shalom,

Judy Veis, Chair, Torah School Board
