The Seven Days

Source: Sam Glaser's GREAT CD, "Kol BaMidbar", with some editing by me

Parashat B'reisheet

On the first day of creation, God created what? LIGHT
God separated light from the darkness and saw that it was good.
V'yhee erev, v'yhee boker, yom echad.

On the second day of creation, God created what? HEAVEN!
God separated low from above, and it's not well understood.
V'yhee erev, v'yhee boker, yom sheni.

On the third day of creation, God created what? LAND!
God separated land from the oceans
And this time it was good.
V'yhee erev, v'yhee boker, yom shleeshee.

And on the dry land all around
Bushes and flowers and apple trees
Every plant you can imagine
Every fruit that you can eat.

On the fourth day of creation, God created what? THE SUN!
God made the moon and stars so bright
And saw that it was good.
V'yhee erev, v'yhee boker, yom r'vee'ee.

On the fifth day of creation, God created what? FISH!
And chicks and ducks and geese to scurry
And God saw that it was good.
V'yhee erev, v'yhee boker, yom chamishi.

On the sixth day of creation, God created what? ANIMALS!
Snakes, giraffes and porcupines,
Curious George on jungle vines
Lions and tigers and bears, oh my!
And God saw that it was good.
V'yhee erev, v'yhee boker, yom sheeshee.

But God was not quite finished
'Til Adam and Chava were side by side
God commanded them to rule the earth
And be fruitful and multiply...

On the seventh day of creation, God created what? REST!
We take the time to make it special, 'cause Shabbat is the best.
V'yhee erev, v'yhee boker, yom sh'vee'ee.

Sing A Song About A Rainbow

Source: Karen Daniel

Parashat Noach

Chorus:
Sing a song about a rainbow
Of everlasting love
Sing a song about a rainbow
And a promise from above.

Yesterday I was caught in the rain
Soaking wet from my head to my toes
Then I remembered a story I heard
About Noah, so long ago.
People knew what would happen if they wouldn't listen
But only Noah obeyed
So God sent the rain fall down on the earth
'Til all the evil was washed away.

Chorus:

For forty days and forty nights
All it ever did was rain
Then God sent a rainbow as a promise
It would never happen again.
Well, life is a test, we all do our best
But it's hard to know right from wrong
Just ask yourself, "Has a lesson been learned?"
And remember to sing a song. Chorus:
