Join Rabbi Rachel to learn Megilat Rut — The Scroll of Ruth, the grand finale of our Jewish Studies “Great Jewish Books” project this year. Ruth is traditionally read at the festival of Shavuot. This beautiful story is one whose meaning grows wider and deeper as we mature ourselves. We feel Naomi’s pain and loss, Ruth’s courage and strength, Boaz’s longing and love, each of them awakened as they meet each other in a narrative for the ages.

Session I – May 17 – exploring the text itself, historical context, literary meaning, character development

Session II – May 24 – Ruth Rabbah – highlights from the Midrash, rabbinic commentary on Ruth

*Please read the Book of Ruth in preparation for these sessions and bring your own copy – hard paper or online – to our meetings.
