We are thrilled to welcome Galeet Dardashti as our guest artist for this year’s Allan Schwarz music Shabbaton.  An internationally acclaimed concert and recording artist and faculty member at the Jewish Theological Seminary, Galeet is the first woman in her family to continue her family tradition of distinguished Persian and Jewish musicianship.

Please join us Friday evening, Shabbat morning and afternoon to experience a richly traditional and also completely innovative approach to prayer and learning.

Friday night, November 22
6:30 pm Shabbat dinner – Registration is closed 
7:30 pm Kabbalat Shabbat with Dr. Dardashti and Adat Shalom clergy
8:30 pm “Family legacy, Artistic Innovation, Jewish Scholarship – A Personal Journey”

Yom Shabbat, November 23
9:30 am morning prayers led by Dr. Dardashti and Adat Shalom clergy
11:30 am creative musaf
12:15 pm Shabbat lunch all are welcome
1:00-2:30 pm “Libi BaMizrach: Middle Eastern Influences on Jewish Prayer”

 

Galeet Dardashti, a vocalist, and scholar, is the first woman to continue her family’s tradition of distinguished Persian-Jewish musicianship.

She has earned a reputation as one of the most innovative performers of Jewish music today.
