The Great Jewish Book Series Continues
Returning due to popular demand our learning together continues with the study of The Books of Job (just wrapped up), Jeremiah and Isaiah. As we enter the summer months of Av and Elul we have an opportunity to learn from our rich tradition how to meet life’s sorrow and challenges to gather and strengthen ourselves to work for a better future. It is customary to study Jeremiah and Isaiah as we prepare to enter into the Days of Awe.
In this two-part exploration of the prophet Deutero-Isaiah or second Isaiah, we will consider the historical background of the Babylonian exile and Isaiah’s place in it, as well as the extraordinary poetic prophetic text for which this ancient author is known.
