Saturday, August 10th at 8:00 PM – Evening prayers, Havdalah and the Scroll of Lamentations by candlelight
Sunday, August 11th at 9:30 AM The Mourning After – Text study with Rabbi Avi Strausberg, local director of Hadar, and Rabbi Hazzan Rachel. We turn from mourning to appreciation of the new systems and technologies developed by our early rabbinic sages, namely the Mishna and Gemara, the major components of the Talmud.
Rabbi Avi will explore rabbinic responses to crisis. The fall of the Second Temple shattered Jewish life as it was known and required a total reimagining and reawakening of Jewish tradition, if Judaism was to survive. On this day in which we commemorate the fall of not one but two temples, we will explore how different rabbis responded to this religious and spiritual crisis and what their responses might teach us about our own possibilities around resilience today.Map Unavailable
