Green Tikkun/Environment

For Adat Shalom, caring for Creation is both a religious tradition and the imperative of our day. You’ll find this reflected in all of our community activities. Adat Shalom was the area’s first EPA Energy Star Synagogue (2002), was the first to go solar (2011), and is a pioneer of Sacred Grounds (2013).

  • Statement on Climate and Ecology (2018)
  • Green Synagogue Design
  • Solar – Our award-winning synagogue design
  • Mishnah Garden – Adat Shalom’s onsite organic garden plus Shmita (Literally “release”, Shmita is the observance of a rest year for the earth) Orchard (Must we include this? I’ve put in a short explanation, but my preference would be to omit it. If there’s a time when members are working on it, then we could put it back up.)
  • Sacred Grounds – a program to INSERT SHORT PHRASE OF DESCRIPTION
  • Environmental Justice Efforts (See this below in the Social Action section)
  • Climate Action – Adat Shalom partners with many community organizations in support climate action campaigns.
