Adat Shalom has “adopted” the village of Leogane, Haiti. Devasted by an earthquake in 2010, many of Haiti’s impoverished residents have not fully recovered. Our relationship with the families of Leogane is our small way of contributing to efforts on behalf of Haiti. Each winter break, about 20 members of our synagogue travel to Leogane to support community building projects, such as homes, schools and play areas. To help the community meet other needs throughout the year, more than one-hundred AS families donate one-hundred dollars a year to our Haiti fund.
