Yesodot Halimud

Yesodot HaLimud, Adat Shalom’s custom-designed adult learning program, began its third cohort in January 2018.  It is an intensive 18-month study program which offers participants the opportunity to develop a comfort level with basic Jewish living and learning. The program meets  twice each month and the curriculum includes TaNaKh (Hebrew Bible) and history, prayer, Hebrew, Jewish daily practice, and group work that integrates our learning with our larger life experiences. The program provides a meaningful context for the many details of Jewish history and practice.

At the culmination of the two year study, the program's participants bring together what they have learned and share it with the community at an Adat Shalom Shabbat service.

The 2018 Yesodot HaLimud class literally "get down" on their hands and knees to create a Jewish history timeline.

The service for the first class was held in May, 2013 and for the second class in June, 2015. Fifty-two Adat Shalom members have completed the program thus enriching their Jewish lives.

Personal Presentations

Each class member developed a personal project to deepen, personalize and express their connection to the Tanakh. The depth of their expressions and the forms selected are a tribute to the learning and creativity of the class.
