2Over the years, hundreds of Adat Shalom members have participated in memorable congregational retreats at the beautiful 4-H Center in the foothills of the Shenandoah mountains. Our biennial retreat is an unparalleled chance to expand our Adat Shalom experience, make new friends, learn and grow and spend quality time with family and fellow congregants. From May 22 through 24, 2015, we will celebrate our belonging to two civilizations as we experience the joys of a stimulating and relaxing Memorial Day Weekend and an inspiring celebration of Shabbat and Shavuot, (which starts Saturday night). Our theme for this year’s retreat, “Reconstructionist Revelation“, is an exploration of our movement’s history, present and future as well as a joyful celebration of Shavuot, the holiday which connects us most deeply with what it means to receive and engage with Torah as Reconstructionist Jews.
The retreat will be led by our clergy and staff including Rabbi Fred, Hazzan Rachel, our educational director Rabbi Julie, our Shlicha Sahar and special guest storyteller Marilyn Price. Among many unique experiences, we are featuring:
|Shabbat and Shavuot in the outdoors||Robust programming for all our children|
|Havdalah under the stars||Teen offerings|
|Performance of Judith Eisenstein’s Cantata: “What is Torah?”||Babysitting|
|Tikkun Leil Shavuot right outside your door||Exploring our spirituality with Makom @ Adat Shalom|
|Intergenerational Programming: Our Journey to Sinai and Beyond||Hikes to Sinai|
|Deepening our connections||And so much more!|
