Orit and Hagai Golan

Shalom! My name is Orit Janco Golan. My family and I joined Adat Shalom in late summer 2010. I had been looking to join a synagogue since we wanted our children to learn about Jewish traditions in a community setting. We were also looking for a Jewish community where our “blended” family – North American and Israeli- would feel at home.

Hagai, my husband , grew up on a kibbutz, where synagogue life was not part of his life. Joining Adat Shalom was a good fit. He and each of us always found a way or an event that felt right.

During the last 9 years, each of us has connected with others and made friends at Adat in different ways: as Crew or Captains for the Shabbat Oneg duty lunches; as dancer for the yearly Prayer Through Movement presentation; as teacher of bicycle or soccer lessons for the silent auction or as cook for dinners with Torah school peers before a teen gathering!

Whether it is the calm Sanctuary space for Shabbat and Holidays, the nutritious and delicious kibbutz-style lunches, our inspiring and approachable clergy, the bountiful outdoor garden, the multi-generational members from all walks of life, the Social Action initiatives, the various Israel Connection programs, the fun Purim spiels, the joyous Tot Shabbat, Chanuka and B’nai Mitzvah celebrations or SO many more opportunities, we hope you too, will find Adat Shalom the place where you will feel connected Jewish-ly.

You will want to give it a try. Do come and visit.

Someone with a name tag will approach you with a warm welcome and kind smile!
