We are asking for a sliding scale contribution from $360 for those who are able, $270 or $180 for many, less if it’s a hardship to cover donations to those speakers and workshop leaders who will be giving generously of their time and expertise, or, in some cases, to the organizations they represent. We don’t want the cost to participate to be a hardship so please reach out if you have financial concerns. All but $90 of the cost is tax deductible.
The deadline to register is Monday, July 27th at 5pm. Priority will be given to those who haven’t previously participated, but I am happy to welcome returnees to Tikkun Ha’Ir as well! Rising 11th and 12th graders will be considered for leadership positions (small stipend involved). Everyone will receive 24 SSL hours.
If you have read this far, and have specific questions, here are some answers:
—We will have two Zoom gatherings per day. Everything else is building, cooking, budgeting, scavenging, designing, sewing, brainstorming.
—Nobody will have to wake up early if they don’t want to. Our earliest group gatherings won’t be until noon or later.. But we will be meeting every evening and, depending on stamina, might be engaged in activities/discussions later at night as well.
—We will be working a lot in small teams. Cell phones are MANDATORY and keeping them charged is essential.
—You may invite friends to participate (from your school, neighborhood, etc…). Any faith welcome, though everyone will come away having absorbed a lot of what I call “Jewish nuggets”–terms, values, bits of Torah, etc…
—Surprise is key, so I cannot divulge many details right now. But it should be fun and intense and eye-opening.
Please provide the information below and either submit your payment via the web or by sending a check to Adat Shalom: 7727 Persimmon Tree Lane, Bethesda, MD. 20817. Please put “Tikkun Ha’Ir” in the memo line of the check.
